The Proxy was specifically designed for extracts, with a focus on the best flavor and ease of use. With ample accessories like a glass insert for herbal smoking, the Proxy is more versatile than almost any other device on the market. This is another innovative solution from Puffco.
- Use of 3D Chamber technology
- Four temperature settings plus Easter Egg mode
- Ergonomic and stylish design
- Many third-party accessories
Proxy form factor: At first glance, the Proxy is quite different from most concentrate vapes. It resembles neither a vape pen nor a classic electronic rig. Instead, it's reminiscent of a Sherlock pipe from bygone days, like the ones you might have seen at your grandparents' house or in old movies. The glass sits balanced and ergonomically in the hand and has a stable, flat base. But what makes the Proxy special isn't just its appearance or shape. Its modular design:
The vape consists of two main components: the glass and the base. The glass serves as a giant mouthpiece, while the base contains all the electrical components, the battery, the one-button controller, and the atomizer.
This clever modular design allows the base to be used with various compatible glass bowls from Puffco or third-party suppliers. Puffco already offers the Bub, a glass pipe with water filtration.
This modular design opens up a wealth of customization options and makes the Proxy one of the first vapes with a replaceable heating element.
Heating element and 3D chamber of the Puffco Proxy: The Proxy uses Puffco's advanced 3D ceramic coils, where the heating wire is embedded in the walls of the coils.
Unlike traditional coils, which draw heat from the bottom, this coil delivers heat from all directions. This heating system, combined with precise temperature control, prevents extracts from vaporizing before you draw, ensuring consistent results.
Using the Proxy Vaporizer: The Proxy is a cold-load vaporizer, meaning it must be loaded before heating. You can use the included dab tool, which is helpful for crumbly and non-sticky extracts. However, for sticky extracts, we recommend using a "hot" loading tool like the CrossingTech Mini Buddy HDT.
The tip heats up and melts the concentrate into the center of the coils, instead of scraping it from the sides of the chamber with the included tool. Using the Hot Knife extends the lifespan of the coils, prevents extract loss, and increases efficiency. After filling the chamber with material, attach the Carp Cap and hold the button for three seconds to activate the Proxy. Pressing once allows you to choose between four temperature settings, with blue being the lowest and white being the highest.
Vapor Quality: The Proxy's vapor quality is impressive. It produces creamy, full flavor and terpenes. Unlike a vape pen, the Proxy features a large mouthpiece that allows the vapor to cool before inhalation. Excess heat is vented into the air instead of entering the mouthpiece or hitting the face, thanks to the tried-and-true design of traditional pipes.
The Proxy stays hot for about four to six hits before automatically shutting off. You can extend your session by double-tapping the button. Extracts are currently the fastest-growing category in vaping, and the Proxy lowers the barrier to entry with simple operation. It's significantly more user-friendly than a rig, yet still extremely versatile.
Battery life: The Proxy's compact, all-in-one form factor also means a smaller battery. We managed about 5-6 sessions before the battery ran out. Charging takes about 60 minutes on average. However, the Proxy has a USB-C port, so charging is possible almost anywhere. Triple-clicking the button indicates the current battery level with a green, orange, or red light.
