Essential oil – Rose absolute (rosa demascene)

The Damask rose group is a cultivated form with a rich, intoxicating fragrance from Asia Minor and belongs to the plant genus of the rose family. Rose oil is very precious; 60 rose petals are needed for each drop of rose oil. Absolutes are the highly concentrated essential oils from plants that cannot be extracted by steam distillation. Process: Hexane dissolves the essential oils from the flowers, which are then evaporated by distillation. The resulting concrète is a milky, fragrant paste that is mixed with alcohol, heated, and then filtered.
